Taiwan Porridge - Cupertino is a taiwanese restaurant in Cupertino, California. Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 11 am–9 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Cupertino is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Cupertino follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

You get assigned a table and then go to the counter to order up your food. And they bring the food to your table plus the porridge. But you pay the counter after. I’m always not sure how tipping works because it’s really not a full serve restaurant. But default payment is 15% tips at the counter. Just so you know. The food is pretty good and service is very fast. They do a brisk walk in take out business also.

Atmosphere of hole in the wall (simple, counter service like McDonalds) place for prices of a "normal" dine in restaurant... unlimited porrige, but its just a lot of water, sparse rice, and a few sweet potato pieces... 14 dollars for lunch special x3 choices, 17 for lunch special x4 choices 16 dollars for steamed halibut.... Service is expected of hole in wall place; nonexistent, so that is not factored into the review. but they really did not need to ask for extra tip like what service did you provide?? Pretty unprofessional IMO For a takeout, having you not pay right away and having you pay at table is a predatory practice that encourages excess tipping as well compared to other counter service restaurants (think Mcdonalds) Food was alright; not too salty. P balanced. Pig ears had good woody spices and seaweed had solid garlicky sea flavor. Fish was light and soft with scallion ginger aromatics. Bamboo was cooked in pork fat so good meaty woody flavor. Tofu quail egg was just sweet sour. Sauce bit watery. Rice porridge was lowk great depression food (Hella water, a few sweet potato pieces saving it by a bit) All p oily tho:( Good if it was 35% less. The voucher if you pay w

I ordered three dishes from Panda delivery that they fetched the dishes from the restaurant and delivered to the customer home. I bought β€œFried Tofu” and β€œSteer fried squid with celery”. The third one is β€œmeatball stew with cabbage β€œ. Except the meatball, the other two dishes are so dry and hard to chew! Totally not consistent with the description nor the photos attached on their website. It is so disgusting! It is not right the restaurant did this for those customers who ordered delivery food. Since we are not in their dining place, so they felt they can provide whatever food to them! So don’t order for delivery from here!

Husband and I love this place!! We love getting the lotus, egg plant and friend chicken 🀀 service is also better than your avg Asian restaurant. Porridge with sweet potato also slaps! If you pay with cash, you can accumulate for stamps to redeem for $10 off!

The restaurant is named as Taiwan Porridge but the dishes served are very much northern Chinese tapas dishes. Each one is cold and small in portion, but the flavors are not bad. This is a very small eatery so prepare to rub elbows with your neighboring table.
